Promoting Effective Communication
At Nant-y-Bryniau, we are dedicated to ensuring the continued academic progress of your pupils while they are undergoing treatment in the hospital. As a small teaching staff of four, their subjects may be led by non-specialist teachers. That's why we highly value your support in this collaborative endeavor.
In order to provide the best possible support and facilitate a smooth transition for your pupils during their time with us, we kindly request the following crucial information:
-
Course Details: Please provide us with the names of the courses your pupils are currently studying, such as GCSE, A Level, or BTEC, along with the exam board or provider. Additionally, if there are any specific pathways within these courses, it would greatly assist us in aligning our teaching methods accordingly.

-
Accreditation and Assessments: Informing us about any accreditation work or assessments that your pupils need to complete while they are with us will enable us to create a tailored plan that addresses their requirements effectively.

-
Academic History: Sharing their most recent report and the results of any personalised assessments they have undertaken will aid us in gaining insights into their current academic standing and designing appropriate strategies to support their progress.

-
Individual Development Plans (IDP) or Action Plans: If your pupils have an IDP, School Action, or any other plan in place, we kindly request that you provide us with relevant details. This will allow us to integrate their individual requirements into our teaching approach seamlessly.

-
Subject-specific Information: Please provide us with the topic areas that your pupils are currently covering or need to cover for each subject, along with the key learning outcomes. Providing us with a detailed scheme of work and any specific resources will enable us to assist your pupils more effectively. Additionally, providing contact information for each subject teacher will enable our teachers to liaise with you and your school more effectively and efficiently.

-
Attendance Records: Sharing attendance figures from the previous year or term will help us keep track of their engagement with their studies and ensure appropriate support is provided.

-
Social Assessment: It would greatly benefit us to have an understanding of how your pupils are faring socially. Please share any positive observations or concerns you may have so that we can address their holistic well-being alongside their academic needs.

-
Strategies for Success: If there are any specific strategies or tips that have proven effective in working with your pupils, we encourage you to share them with us. This valuable information will allow us to tailor our instructional methods to their individual learning styles and preferences.

-
Family Engagement: We firmly believe in the importance of strong family-school partnerships. A brief statement about family engagement will help us better understand your expectations and how we can collaborate to support your pupils effectively.

-
Previous Support: Please let us know what support has been offered to your pupils thus far and what has been successful.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation in providing us with the above information. By working together and fostering strong communication channels between Nant-y-Bryniau and mainstream providers, we can ensure a smooth educational journey for your pupils while they are receiving hospital care. Should you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Together, we can make a positive difference in your pupils' lives.
